Quick fact

Pheromones, this time I learnt this from my course whilst learning about taste and smell for neuroscience.

Most people know that if women live in close proximity to each other, they synchronise their menstrual cycles, this is due to secretions from apocrine sweat glands being detected non-consciously via the olfactory neurons (your nose).

Even more interestingly when men spend time around women they promote ovulation and my particular favourite, the presence of women around men promotes beard growth. Therefore as a boy who lives in an all male flat, is girlfriend less and who's family are all male apart from my mother (obviously) it is quite fitting that I present less facial hair than most.

Also next year everybody is coming up north, 3 of my best friends are staying round in the North, Manchester, Leeds and Sheffield. This is not only exciting for them but for me as I get to see them on a regular basis as opposed to every 3 months at home, hardly conducive to a close relationship. Although I think I'm starting to realise I have good friends here.

Enjoy the rest of your bank holiday weekend, the weather looks good in London and OK in Bristol, whereas up north I'll be doing my best wet dog impression.
